Minecraft Education for Science

Become an Eco Detective with Minecraft!

Recommended for years 4-6 students, this free Minecraft Education game will engage your students and allow them to solve real-world conservation issues one block at a time!

This game lets students act as conservationists in virtual worlds and empowers them to do the same in their local ecosystems. By playing Eco Detectives, students restore balance to virtual ecosystems and improve biodiversity.

Quests within Drylands, Woodlands, Wetlands and Urban Biomes turn players into environmental change agents. Students will complete tasks by making small changes that have positive impacts on wildlife.

The tasks in the game are all examples of real action that your students can take in their local area, including:

  • Restoring vegetation for wildlife
  • Encouraging their community to keep their cats safe and healthy indoors
  • Creating habitat for local threatened species
  • Caring for waterways

The following resources can be used to plan engaging lessons that extend what students learn by playing Eco Detectives:
